The London Missionary Society sent Rev Robert Morrison to start the first-ever evangelistic works in China.

Rev Robert Morrison founded the Anglo-Chinese College in Malacca. The foundation ceremony was held on November 11th. Rev William Milne served as the founding headmaster. The college was established with printing offices for English and Chinese publications.

The Chinese Bible, Morrison Bible, translated by Rev Robert Morrison and Rev William Milne, was published.

The college moved to Hong Kong and started the campus construction works at Staunton Street in the following year. The new campus served the purposes of a Theological Seminary and Preparatory College, a church and a printing office.
The first Chinese newspaper, Chinese Serial, was published by the college.
The boarding school ceased to operate and reopened the following year as a day school before closing down completely in 1858. The printing office continued its works until 1873.
To Tsai Church revived the college. On February 9th, teaching restarted under the headship of Rev Arnold Hughes. The college premises were located at 9 Caine Road and later moved to 67 and then to 45 Caine Road over a span of three years.
The college was relocated to 82 Bonham Road.
Rev Arnold Hughes was called up for service in the First World War. Rev Thomas William Pearce became the acting headmaster until middle of the following year. The college was placed on the list of Grant-in-Aid colleges and received subsides from the government until 1927.
Ying Wa Student was published.
Rev Leopold Gordon Phillips served as the headmaster.
Mr Richard Shim Wai Chong served as the headmaster, the first Chinese in this position over the college’s hundred-year history.
The college moved to new premises on 56 Bute Street, sharing the property with Mongkok Church.

The college prepared for an affiliated vernacular primary school, which started teaching in the following year.
The college resumed the receipt of grants from the government.
Mr Herbert Noble served as the headmaster. Mr. Rupert Baldwin composed the school song “Home of Our Youth”.
Hong Kong was occupied and the college suspended.
Hong Kong was liberated in August. On November, 1st, the college re-opened. In the following years, the college welcomed its new school motto, school badge and uniform.
Ying Wa College Old Boys’ Association was established and later registered as a limited company in 1965.

The college ended the affiliated primary school and transferred part of its teachers and students to Kei Wa Primary School.

The college moved campus to 1 Ying Wa Street, Sham Shui Po. The college restarted primary school, and offered through-train education. Mr Lee Chee Wah served as the headmaster of college, and Ms Kan Yan Ling as the headmistress of primary school.
Ms Lam Woon Sum served as the headmistress of primary school.
Both became direct subsidy scheme schools.

The college celebrated its bicentennial.
