Gifted education has been well developed in Ying Wa College over the previous decade and is known as one of the highlights of the school which started to provide school-based gifted programmes since 2004. In 2007, the Gifted Education Committee was established with members from different departments sharing ideas and organising different gifted programmes. Around 70 academic gifted programmes or competitions take place in the school every year, and some of our students, being representatives from Hong Kong, have clinched prizes from competitions organised by world renowned bodies like International Physics Olympiad and International Mathematics Olympiad. 

Besides, the Gifted Education Committee also devises tailor-made development strategies for main subjects such as Chinese, English, Mathematics, Technology and Science. Each subject has its own well-planned gifted programmes. For example, the Chinese Department has gifted programmes on writing, debate, crosstalk and public speaking skills; the Mathematics Department offers Mathematics Olympiad training courses for the gifted students; the English Department has gifted programmes on public speaking, creative writing and radio programmes production; the Science Department has a student research team focusing on scientific investigations. All these endeavours are proved to be crucial to the further enhancement of the ability of our gifted students.
