Supervisor’s Message
1818 denotes a year of significance for all those who hold Ying Wa dear to their hearts. With a vision of bridging Chinese and Western cultures and a mission of preaching the gospel, the school was founded by Rev Dr Robert Morrison. From this early effort, the project has blossomed under the effort of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, bearing fruits in both primary and secondary school education, and continuing with the mission that transgresses from Malacca to Hong Kong. Growth in the Ying Wa community has witnessed the Lord’s blessing to those who trust in the Lord and devote efforts to His cause. Here and now, the Ying Wa community takes its turn in carrying the torch to guide students along the way of the Lord — Steadfast Faith, Beneficent Deeds. By concerted efforts of teachers and parents, we work towards the development of the whole person, assisting those who come under our wings to realize potentials granted to them from on High. May the sparks in you be kindled into intellectual passion that will last you for life. In efforts to strive for excellence, we aim to enrich the learning experience with diverse learning opportunities and to develop skills of critical thinking in the solution of problems. We hope therefore that graduates bear distinctive qualities of humility and altruism, heeding to the inner values cultivated in them while adapting to changes and challenges that they face in life. Other than the successes documented in our archives, alumni have many a story to tell of days gone by and of joys that witness the coming of our graduates in Ying Wa over the years. On revisiting by-gone footsteps of following the Lord’s Way, we pledge to continue our mission towards glorification of His plan for Ying Wa.
