Welcome Message
It is my great pleasure to introduce the College and its community to you. Ying Wa College is a high-performing, EMI DSS secondary school with a fascinating 200-year history. We aim at building a humble and caring community, are dedicated to nurturing all round, capable young gentlemen with academic excellence based on strong Christian faith and values.
Ying Wa is not simply a school, but a very large community made up of our boys, teachers, parents, old boys, predecessors with a broad range of backgrounds and life experience and, most importantly, our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Dr. Robert Morrison from the London Missionary Society founded Ying Wa College (formerly known as the Anglo-Chinese School) in 1818 with a steadfast vision: to spread the Gospel and cultivate both English and Chinese culture. Over the past two centuries, the core values of the founder are still left at the heart of the College today.
Every student is seen, heard and valued that their talents and potential are discovered, developed and unleashed through diversified learning experiences and activities. Our boys are well put in an extensive co-curricular program providing them gifted opportunities within a broad range of sports, cultural, club and service activities, so that every boy can participate, grow, be challenged, and ultimately excel. They develop confidence, character, and independence with support from a dynamic, supportive learning environment where inquisitiveness and independence of thought are celebrated. Their academic excellence is rewarded with a remarkable track record in the HKDSE with exceptional individual success over the years. We also prioritize the well-being of students our prime concern. Positive education and holistic approach are an integral part of school life to bring out the best of each individual. The input of our students is greatly valued in every aspect of college life, and in partnership with parents, building a strong connection among the home, the school and the student.
All of us are holding the best of Ying Wa traditions and vision while interpreting them in a distinctive way to offer an excellent, all-round education to our boys, preparing them for the rapidly changing demands of the 21st century. I hope that each member of the College will live up to our motto "Steadfast Faith, Beneficent Deeds" and build a strong bond to shape community members in positive ways with a high level of resilience and integrity.
You are most welcome to visit us for the well-equipped facilities, meet and greet with our team of committed teachers and also experience our unique characteristic "Simple and Unadorned, Outstanding but Humble".
I look forward to meeting you all on campus.
